New feature: Single event export from cut layer.
To export a single event from cut layer to hard disk (including volume and effects), right-click (ctrl-click) the event and choose "Save Event as..." from the context menu. You may also drag and drop one or more events out of the cut layer to your hard disk.
New "Level Meter" panel.
This is a a special panel which displays the level of any panel or the master out. You can add as many level meter panels as you like to your project. The panels are resizeable on the Prepare layer. Configure which panel's level you'd like to display in the "Display" subview of a level meter panel. When creating a new level meter panel while a Mic or Clip panel is selected, the new level meter panel will be configured to inspect the previously selected panel by default.
Added support for Amazon S3^TM upload.
Mic panels now always show the used input device, even when the user set a custom panel name.
Improved Undo handling with volume nodes.
Delete events after "Select All" on cut layer now alway deletes all chapter marks.
Übercaster can now handle moved referenced audio files.
Übercaster tries to solve all invalid file references in a project document automatically. In case the automatic resolving fails (e.g. a referenced file is deleted or on a unreachable volume, or if the project wasn't saved with v1.6 at least once) the user can now choose to search for a file manually or to skip it.
The show notes fields can now handle variable tokens.
Übercaster now supports show notes in the ID3 lyrics tag.
New variable token on Release layer: "Derive Content".
This token copies the content of the same field in another slot. There are two variants: "Derive content form first slot" and "Derive content from previous slot". You can change this with the token's context menu. Default is "Derive content form first slot".
Improved "Duplicate Slot": When choosing "Duplicate Slot" on the Release layer, Übercaster now uses the "Derive Content" token, when possible.
Improved handling of "Publishing date".
There are now several presets available through a new popup menu: "Date of Project Creation" takes the "Create Date" of the projects file, "Date of Project Release" (default) sets the date to the actual date before releasing, "Manual Date" let the user set a fixed date manually. In addition to these three presets, it's also possible to set "Copy from first Slot" resp. "Copy from previous Slot". Although currently the exact publishing date is only used when releasing a podcast to Podshow, the ID3 tag "Year" and all "Date"-Token values are based on the publishing date of the slot!
The show notes edit fields have now scrollbars (if necessary).
New "Reveal" button next to the release destination popup.
More sample rate and bit rate options for AAC encoding.
New: Copy Autopilot topics to clipboard.
When selecting the Autopilot panel on the Prepare layer and choosing Edit > Copy, all topic titles are copied to the pasteboard as text. In case of duplicate topic titles, only the first appearance of the topic is copied. If a topic was started in the show (i.e. a chapter mark for the topic exists), the time of the topic's start is appended to the title.
New keyboard shortcuts for playhead movement, zoom and track selection.
Left/right arrow key: move playhead one minor ruler tick, option-left/right arrow key: zoom out/in horizontal, up/down arrow key: select previous/next track (Cut layer only), option-up/down arrow key: change track height (Cut layer only).

Fixed a bug in Übercaster's audio import engine causing wrong durations of VBR encoded audio files.
Fixed a bug in Cut layer causing problems when moving a selection of events containing the last event in the timeline. The same issue prevented Übercaster from changing the last event's duration (drag event edge) in some zoom levels.
On Mac OS X v10.5 (Leopard) double-clicking onto the chapter table starts editing (again...). Double-clicking on the chapter image column still moves the playhead to the chapter's timestamp.

Fixed a serious bug which occasionally prevented Übercaster to record a microphone after muting/unmuting a microphone panel.
Improved Punch mode with "Insert": When an In and Out point is set and "Insert" is enabled, Übercaster now overwrites the material between In/Out and then automatically inserts all further recording, starting at the Out point.
When using "Select all" or "Select all following/preceding" to select events in Cut or Record layer, deleting the selected events also delete all markers in the effected area.
Chapters created by Autopilot contain now automatically the first URLs found in the topic as chapter URL.
Right-clicking (ctrl-clicking) on the Autopilot panel now opens a context menu containing all URLs found in the currently displayed topic. Choosing an URLs from the context menu opens it in the default web browser.
Removed general ftp connection check during release. The check caused problems when uploading via GSM cards and wasn't really necessary (the server connection is checked later during server path validation anyway).
Fixed a bug, causing mics play thru when doing a punch recording, even when the mic's monitor switch was set to "off".

New feature: Autopilot
New feature: Freeze/Lock tracks in Cut layer
New feature: Mastertrack effects. Most effects are available on master track. No "switchable" effects on Master track.
General optimization and overhauling of Übercaster's audio engine. Should be now much more robust and responsive.
Mic Panels are now recorded with 1 second "look ahead", i.e. you'll be able to move the left edge of a newly recorded event up to 1 second to the left.
New feature: Ofﬂine Effects. Ofﬂine Effects are rendered on frozen tracks. Ofﬂine effects cannot be "switchable".
New ofﬂine effect: RMS Normalizer.
Save/Load effect presets. The presets are compatible with other CoreAudio applications like GarageBand.
New advanced preference: "Record Audio with AAC Compression." If selected, Übercaster writes new recordings into compressed AAC ﬁles, i.e. by far smaller ﬁle sizes. Be careful: AAC is a lossy compression and it needs more CPU cycles to record! Crash recovery of AAC recordings is not possible.
New feature "Auto Chapter" for Clip panels ("Prepare" > "Display" sub view). Can be set to "Off", "On Start" (creates a chapter mark whenever the clip is started during recording) and "On Stop" (creates a chapter mark whenever the clip stops during recording).
New feature "One Shot" for Clip panels ("Prepare" > "Display" sub view). When this option is enabled, the clip panel becomes disabled on Record layer as soon as its track contains at least one event.
AudioChat panel is now conﬁgurable to record in stereo mode
Looping on Cut layer: New option "Loops" for selected events in Track Edit sub view. By selecting "Loops" for an event, the event loops until the start of the next event on its track. If there's no next event, it loops 3 times by default.
Cut layer: Looping events are marked with an inﬁnite sign next to the event title.
Cut layer: The event titles of events still connected to their original track/panel are now displayed bold & underlined. Please note: the existence of connected events is not new (it's there since v1.0). By default all events are connected to their original track/panel (this is also true for events created by drag&drop). When changing the color or title of a track/panel, events connected to this track also change their color/title. An event's connection to it's original track is broken by changing any of the event's settings in "Cut layer" > "Track Edit" > "Selected Event Settings".
New feature: Reordering effects
If a cover art image is deﬁned, this image is used as chapter image of the automatic default chapter ("Start").
Scripting support for Autopilot. See Übercaster's AppleScript dictionary for more information.
There's also a new sample script in the Extras/Sample AppleScripts folder on the installer disc image.

Fixed a bug concerning non-ASCII characters in chapter titles.

New note pad panel. Use menu command "View" > "Note Pad" > "Insert Timestamp" (or the "Timestamp" button in the note pad's toolbar) to insert the current playhead position as timestamp (available when in Record or Cut layer).
Selecting the chapter table (or any chapter) and execute "copy" writes a HTML representation of the chapter table into the pasteboard.
It's now possible to paste chapter images into a selected chapter.
Double-clicking on a chapter image in the chapter table moves the playhead to this chapter.
"Prepare Layer">"Audio subview": new display for showing the audio file path of a clip panel, including "Reveal in Finder" fuction via context menu or double click.

Fixed a problem with some multi channel devices (e.g. PreSonus FIREBOX), where it wasn't possible to address another channel than channel 1 (resp. channel pair 1&2).
Fixed a crash when opening the edit window for an AudioUnit with Cocoa interface (e.g. AUNetSend).
Fixed a problem with some input devices sending "audioDeviceSomethingDidChange" to Übercaster which may cause stalls in some circumstances.
New function "Delete & Close Gap" ("Edit" menu): In the Cut layer, use this funktion to delete selected events and automatically close the gap by moving all following events to the left. There are two variants of this functions: "Delete & Close Gap" effects only the track(s) containing the selected events, while "Delete & Close Gap (all Tracks)" moves the following events on all tracks and also all following markers.
New function "Split All Tracks" ("Edit" menu): This function splits events on all tracks at the current playhead position, regardless if they're selected or not.
Improved behaviour: When selecting events with "Select all following events" resp. "Select all preceding events" (Context menu when right-clicking (ctrl-clicking) on a event in Cut layer), all subsequent moves will also move all markers in the selected area.
Improved behaviour: When holding down the modifier keys Command + Option while moving events, all markers in the selected area will also move when the mouse button is released.

Improved input device routines. Less errors and buffer overflows. Dramatically lower latency!
New "select and cut" function in "Track Edit" subview on cut layer: To move events, click and drag in the upper fourth of the Track edit subview (option-drag for copy). To "select and cut" select an area of one or more events by dragging the mouse in the lower three fourths of the Track edit subview. Then click and drack the selection to cut (option-click to copy). It's also possible to drag selections to other tracks in the cut view.
It's now possible to choose a single channel (mono) from a device's channel menu.
Zoom tracks vertically on cut layer.
New option "Reset Playhead on Stop" in the "Mark" menu. If switched on, the playhead resets to it's start position after playback or record. You can temporarily switch this feature on by holding the Control key pressed and clicking the "Play" or "Record" transport button.

Deleting volume node in cut layer: The mouse cursor now changes if dragging a volume point vertically out of the event. When releasing the mouse while the cursor is changed, the volume node will be removed.

New "Advanced" preference: MediaBrowser - Exclude Folders. Folders in this list aren't parsed by the MediaBrowser. Example: If you don't use iTunes default destination for your music, add the folder with your iTunes music files here to prevent the MediaBrowser to parse the music files twice.
Improved Spotlight importer: all referenced audio file paths, custom panel names and custom track names are now indexed in addition to all previous indexed data (e.g. episode length and ID3 data).

Archives: save your project as a self-contained file. You may choose to include or delete unused recordings and clip panels. Archives can be optimized for size or speed.
Chapters are much easier to add and edit. They are removed to an own sub view on the Cut layer.
Cleaned up the control bar on Cut layer. New buttons to switch between sub views. Click on an already selected sub view button to hide the sub view.
Added new menu commands "Go to previous/next marker" and "Go to beginning/ending".
Cleaned up menu structure. Add/Delete track is now in the "Edit" menu. The "Track" menu has been replaced with a "Mark" menu (containing all commands to set and go to markers).
An informational dialog pops up when unsaved recordings are recovered during loading a project (e.g. after a crash). (Can be switched off).

PleasantConnect now provides a feedback channel. Configure this ("Ubercaster Out") as input device in the audiochat application. Your interview partner then not only will hear you but also all sound you produce with Übercaster.
PleasantConnect now provides only one universal virtual device (not 3 dedicated devices -iChat, Skype, Gizmo- as before). Use this device (Ubercaster In/Ubercaster Out) with any 3rd party application with configurable sound in/output devices.
Improved drag&drop of links from MediaBrowser to chapter table: Just drop a link onto a table row to fill in name and url of the link.
Improved drag&drop of chapter images to chapter table: just drop a image onto a table row to set the chapter image.
Improved handling of variables on the release layer. Variables are now shown as "tokens" (like mail addresses in Mail.app). There is a set of available tokens in a new section down in the control bar. Just drag and drop variables from there in one of the "variable-enabled" text fields in the Meta data section.
Added "Smart Crash Reports" from Unsanity.
"Edit recent posts" can now change and delete posts.
Restructured application preferences. Added a new tab "Advanced". This now contains the expert settings for "Maximum number of tracks" and "I/O buffer size" (previously on the General tab). Added a new preference for disabling PleasantConnect (when installed).
When the default display font (Gill Sans) couldn't be found, Übercaster now fallback to the system label font.
Improved checking of value limits in events (possible source for crashes).
Fixed several leaks and bugs.

Introducing "Enhance Microphone" option.
New "MP3 encoder preset" preference in MP3 encoder settings.

Now using LAME 3.97 encoder.
Improved fade-in/fade-out (exhaustive keyboard shortcuts): New preferences for automatically starting/stopping clips when fadeing in/out.
It's now possible to configure the I/O-buffer size. A smaller I/O-buffer size reduces latency but needs more CPU power. The default buffer size is 512.
Optimized "Stop" command for speed. "Stop" should be now instant, even with many tracks in the cut layer.

Updated 3rd party frameworks (iMediaBrowser & Connection).
The "Autoupdate" dialog will be now opened later, so the main menu can load completely before any modal dialog appears. Thus Cut/Copy/Paste is available in the "Enter your license key" dialog.

Build 277 (Beta 6), released 11/04/06

Fixed a bug causing no visual feedback of a "hot" volume wheel when using stealth mode.
Stealth-Mode is now more responsible at short trigger times. It is now possible to also set the trigger time to 0 seconds (instant action). Be careful with that.
New optional feature set for keyboard shortcuts: Exhaustive keyboard shortcuts. Switch on and configure the new feature in "Preferences..." > "Panels". If switched on pressing a panel's keyboard shortcut will trigger variable events accordingly to configurable combinations of modifier keys. With this new feature it is now possible to change the volume of each panel (and more) with keyboard shortcuts. Please read the new section "Exhaustive keyboard shortcuts" in the ReadMe.pdf for detailed instructions!
Double-click on a panel in Prepare layer will open the "set keyboard shortcut" dialog panel.
Extended functionality of keyboard shortcuts to start/stop clip panels: Pressing a clip panels keyboard shortcut will toggle "Start"/"Pause", pressing AND HOLDING a keyboard shortcut will toggle "Start"/"Stop". This works for both, classic and exhausted keyboard shortcuts.
Fixed: During recording clicking into a clip panel toggles Start/Pause. Clicking AND HOLDING the mouse will stop the clip panel (if playing) and resets the panel's playtime to 0:00. Thus "long clicks" have the same effect as option-clicks.
Fixed: In network preferences the "Choose" button wasn't enabled when needed.
Upload with XML-RPC works now. (Not in free beta version!)
Upload with FTP, SFTP, WebDAV and .Mac works now. (Not in the free beta version!)
The maximum number of tracks is now configurable in preferences ("Preferences">"General"). Default is 32, changes will be effective after next relaunch of Übercaster.
Added more understandable error messages to the document load procedure. Especially when loading documents with more tracks than possible in the current configured state, there will now be an error message explaining what to do (Übercaster used to crash in such situations).
It is now possible to change the volume of a panel with the scroll wheel of the mouse. Move the mouse over the volume wheel of a panel to select the panel receiving the scroll wheel events.

Fixed some problems with enhanced AAC (Chapters, Images, Links). Should work now as expected.

Fixed a bug prevented ÜC to open documents containing large recordings.

Changed the default volume of new panels from 80% to 100%.
Cueing clip panels during recording is now fuctional. i.e. you can opt-click the progress bar of a clip panel during recording to jump to a specific point in the audio file, even if the clip is currently playing. The jump will be recorded correctly. It is not possible to "scrub" during recording (as it is possible in the Prepare layer).
Again: Fixed a bug preventing ÜC to start on Macs without any (internal or external) input device.
Auto ducking: Extended options for senstitivity (now from -25dB [lowest] to -9dB[highest]) and gap tolerance (now from 200ms [lowest] to 2000ms [highest]). See tooltips in the pop up menus for absolute values.
Fixed a bug which caused problems during playback: Sometimes the inital volume of events wasn't adjusted. Especially when fading in.
Optimized the recording/playback engine. No more dropouts (device overload) during recording and realtime playback (wasn't an issue when releasing).
Effects are now reset when starting playback/recording (no more "garbage noise" when (re-)playing a show).
Improved editing of volume in Cut layer:
- double click on the volume line to create a new node.-- it's now possible to drag the line between two volume nodes.
- hold the option key to override the "drag vertical-/horizontal only" lock.
- hold the command key down to move all volume nodes of an event at once.
- when dragging a volume node vertically it will automatically snap to the volume of its neighbor (can be turned off by holding the option key)
- when clicking onto a volume node a info window appears, showing the actual volume.
- when changing the volume of one or more volume nodes, the info window shows the volume of the first (left) moved volume node.
improved volume change in prepare&record layer: when changing the volume a info window shows the actual volume value in %.
fixed some bugs with drag&drop in cut layer (mispositioning, double event when accidently initiating external drag, scrolling issues in edit view and record overview, etc.)
added automatic guides in prepare layer for more easy positioning of panels (switch guides on/off with "view">"Snap").
Improved zooming: Playhead stays now in center of window during zoom.
Added menu commands for cut/copy/paste/select all/duplicate in Prepare layer.
Fixed/Improved autosave: Übercaster now autosaves the current document automatically when stopping after recording and before releasing (autosave must be turned on in preferences). The autosave is done regardless of the time since last autosave.
Fixed/Improved autosave: When recovering recorded audio (during opening a saved or autosaved document) Übercaster checks now recovered recordings (CAF audio files) for consistency and tries to fix errors in inconsistent files. Thus, recorded material should now show up in the "Media" subview of the Cut layer as "Recovered audio" even if Übercaster crashed during recording (not having a chance to close the recorded files properly).
The last playhead position is now saved with the document.
Fixed some issues with "Save as Archive" (Images are now handled correctly, overall better reliability).
Correct handling of looping audio in Cut layer: Looped audio events can now have infinite length when dragging the right event edge. Dragging the left event edge of looped events is not possible.
